Each watch we offer for sale is meticulously inspected to verify its authenticity, movements and condition, and all of our stock complies with the legal requirements laid out under used goods law, ensuring its origin is legitimate and that it isn’t stolen property.

What kind of products can I buy or sell at Ancienne?

Our business revolves around the buying and selling of watches, our main focus being vintage pieces, and in particular, rare or unusual items dating from the 1940s to the late 1980s. We also deal in contemporary pieces by leading Swiss watchmakers such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, etc.

What are the requirements for selling an item to Ancienne?

You must be the owner of the item and present an original, valid passport or national identity card.

Will I be paid straight away?

Yes, we will pay you on the spot, by whichever means you prefer: cheque, bank transfer or cash. Under Spanish law cash payments can be made for up to €999,00 for Spanish residents and up to € 9.999,00 for non-residents.

What are your purchase and warranty conditions? 

Each of our watches comes with a 12-month movement warranty. Ancienne will repair any fault in the movement during this period that hasn’t been caused by accidental damage. Please note that we do not guarantee water resistance or waterproofing on any of our watches and the warranty is only valid at Ancienne.

In the case of a distance purchase, all costs and responsibility associated with postage and packaging will be covered by the buyer. The warranty is not transferable and applies only to the purchase for which it was issued.

Are shipping costs included?

Shipping costs are included in the price of the items and all our packages are shipped with comprehensive insurance. Please note that all customs and import duties for shipping to the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla or outside of the EU are to be paid by the buyer.

Can I see a product before buying it?

The only way to actually see and try on a product is by visiting our store in Barcelona.

Have all watches offered for sale been inspected?

Each and every one of our watches has been meticulously inspected by one of our experienced watchmakers to verify its authenticity, mechanical movements and condition. All of our watches come with a one-year warranty. We do not guarantee water resistance or waterproofing on any of our watches and the warranty is only valid at Ancienne.

Are any of the watches offered for sale at Ancienne guaranteed waterproof?

No, none of the watches at Ancienne are guaranteed waterproof, as this can easily lead to damage resulting from improper use. Also, bearing in mind that, as many of the pieces we deal with are of a certain age, it is quite possible they may have lost their waterproofness over time. Extreme caution should always be exercised with any watch that is considered to be a collector’s item, as water can cause irreparable damage that will impact both the functioning and the value of the piece.

How can I be sure a watch is genuine?

We guarantee the authenticity of each and every one of our watches. Under no circumstances do we buy or sell imitations, counterfeits or replicas. Any item for which we cannot offer a 100% guarantee of authenticity, or which creates the slightest doubt about its authenticity, is rejected. All the products that we sell are 100% genuine and authentic.

How can I be sure its origin is legitimate? 

Each item sold by Ancienne comes with a guarantee of authenticity and complies with the legal procedure established by law for used goods, ensuring its authentic origin and legitimacy.

Do I need to show ID when making a purchase at one of your stores?

Yes ID is required for any distance or in-store purchase if the item costs 1,000 euros or more.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept all of the following:

Bank transfer. (Items purchased in this way will only be delivered once the transfer is confirmed as completed by our bank.)

Credit card. (Only for in-store purchases. We accept VISA and MASTERCARD.)

Cash. (Under the cash payments limits of current Spanish law)

We do not accept payments via online payment systems. (PayPal etc.)

Are your prices negotiable?

Our prices are fixed and not subject to any type of negotiation or discount. Shipping costs are included in the price of our watches.

Is there VAT or any other duty on your products?

As our watches are second-hand and we buy mainly from private individuals, prices are subject to VAT for second-hand goods (REBU in Spain, similar to a VAT Margin Scheme). When we sell second-hand goods the VAT is included in our invoices and is non tax-deductable.

Can I get a tax refund on any goods I purchase from you?

As our products are second-hand and therefore subject to VAT for second-hand goods, tax cannot be deducted or claimed back.

Can I reserve an item or pay in instalments?

We don’t accept payment in instalments. Customers can reserve any item by paying a non-refundable 50% deposit. Ancienne Vintage Gallery will then place the item on hold for up to fifteen days, after which time, should the item not be purchased, the deposit can be used to purchase any other piece in our collection within a 90-day period. The deposit will not be refunded if no purchase is made during this time.

Do you offer a distance-purchase option?

Yes, you can purchase from anywhere in the world by following these three simple steps:

We will provide you with details of the account so that you can transfer the purchase price of the watch.

As soon as the transfer reaches us we’ll be in touch with you to make arrangements for delivery of the watch to you. Customs and import duties for shipping to the Canary Islands, Ceuta, Melilla or outside of the EU are to be paid by the customer.

Can you ship to the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla, or outside the EU?

Yes, but international customers who reside outside the EU or in the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla are responsible for all customs duties, tariffs and import taxes incurred in shipping. The customer is also responsible for shipping if the item needs to be sent back to us, either in the event of a problem at customs or if they wish to return it. Ancienne reserves the right to decide which items to ship and to which destinations.

Which shipping companies do you use?

FERRARI, FEDEX and UPS handle all of our international deliveries promptly and reliably.

Our national deliveries are usually handled by SEUR or UPS.

How long will my order take to arrive? What type of delivery service do you use?

A package can usually be collected from us and reach its destination within 24 hours. Unforeseen delays at customs or shipping to unusual destinations may result in longer delivery times.

What is your returns policy?

Our customers have 24 hours to return an item from the time the item is received, and will be entitled to a full refund. However, the return shipping costs, as well as any damage to the piece not previously present, must be paid by the customer. Arrangements for the item’s transportation back to us are also the responsibility of the customer. After receiving and inspecting the item Ancienne will refund the sale price.

Can I exchange my own watch for one at Ancienne?

Yes you can, but only if the watch is of our interest. First you will need to contact us either by email or phone and we will value your watch. Once you’ve received our estimate, you will be able to evaluate the viability of an exchange.
